Issue of Trade Licenses

Obtaining the relevant trade permits in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is required for operating lawful business. These licenses are provided by UAE government officials and are tailored to the sort of company you desire to conduct. The procedure for acquiring a trade license varies according to the emirate and the kind of your firm.

Trade licenses are classified as follows:

Normal License: A Memorandum of Association (which can be obtained electronically or manually) and a site leasing contract are required.

Instant License: It is granted in a single step and within five minutes for a set of operations that do not require external approvals, with the option to issue a memorandum of association and a virtual site for the first year. The following bundle services are issued concurrently with this license:

  • Membership in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce for business purposes
  • The general directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs establishment card
  • The establishment card issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, in which the client receives a text message approving the opening of the establishment card and the creation of an automated file for the hiring of three people. This license is valid for the following legal entities:
  • Limited Liability Company (L.L.C)
  • Limited Liability Company Single Owner (L.L.C – SO)
  • Sole Establishment
  • Civil Company

DED trader license: This is a solitary establishment license that may be obtained by Dubai home-based enterprises with a trade name. It may be used through the “Invest in Dubai” program.

  • Industry of Food and Beverages:
  • Food Establishment License: Restaurants, cafés, catering firms, and other food-related enterprises must get a Food Establishment License from the applicable municipality or food control body. It is issued in Dubai by the Dubai Municipality's Food Safety Department.
  • Halal Certification: If you are dealing with halal food goods, you must receive Halal certification. The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) issued this accreditation.
  • Industry of Healthcare:
  • Healthcare Facility Licensing: Healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, medical centers, and pharmacies, must get licenses from the appropriate health authorities. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is this authority in Dubai.
  • Practitioner Licensing: Healthcare professionals, including as physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, must be licensed by the DHA or the health authority of the emirate in which they intend to practice.
  • Medical Equipment Registration: The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) must approve the importation and use of medical equipment in the UAE.
  • Pharmaceutical Product Registration: Before distributing their medicines in the UAE, pharmaceutical businesses must register their products with the MOHAP.
  • Industry of Education:
  • School or Nursery Licensing: Educational establishments such as schools and nurseries must receive the relevant licenses from the respective education authorities. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai is in charge of regulating private educational establishments.
  • Professional Accreditation: Depending on their skills and experience, teachers and educators may be required to go through a qualification and accreditation procedure in order to teach in the UAE.
  • Industry of Construction:
  • Construction Permits: Construction businesses, such as contractors as well as consultants, are required to obtain construction permits from the applicable municipality or construction authority.
  • Environmental Clearances: To guarantee compliance with environmental standards, large building projects may require environmental clearances from the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).

Mainland vs. Free Zone: There are two primary alternatives for establishing a business in Dubai: the Mainland and the Free Zone. Each choice has its own set of perks and disadvantages.

    • Setting up a firm on the mainland gives you access to the whole UAE market. Depending on the nature of your business, you may be required to have a local Emirati partner who owns at least 51% of the firm. Subject to certain requirements, certain commercial operations may allow for 100% foreign ownership.
    • Free Zone: A free zone is a defined region where firms may benefit from different advantages such as 100% foreign ownership, tax exemptions, and full profit repatriation. Businesses operating in a free zone, on the other hand, can only do business inside that free zone or outside the UAE.
